SplashID Safe Password Manager App Reviews

useful app...

Ive been using SplashID since Palm Vx. Ive been only using the desktop version on my laptop until now as I havent had a Palm in ages. Im glad they have ported this over to the iPhone. I was on SplashID desktop version 3.32 and was able to export all my information over to SplashID iPhone Desktop seamlessly and effortlessly. Furthermore, being a registered user of their previous version (which I bought years ago), the iPhone Desktop was a free upgrade. Only had to pay for the iPhone app. A few minor bugs, but overall an application that is stable and easy to use with an intuitive UI. The syncing between the SplashID iPhone app and SplashID iPhone Desktop has been simple, seamless and very fast. UPDATE: Would love to see the implementation of TouchID to unlock SplashID app. Considering switching to 1Password primarily because of this functionality even though Ive been using SplashID for years.

Caution – do not upgrade to version 8 if you use Wi-Fi sync to your desktop

I have used and liked SplashID for many years, but lately the focus has been less on stability and quality and more on pushing their cloud services. IMPORTANT — The Whats New (release notes) section does not make this clear, but in version 8 you must pay a "one-time" upgrade fee to retain the local WiFi sync functionality. (It was included in version 7.) If you use this functionality and are not prepared to pay more, do not upgrade beyond version 7.2.6. They are trying to change their business model from selling one-time software licenses to a subscription software-as-a-service model, with annual payments. I find this very annoying. (I think there is some kind of lifetime upgrade fee with includes WiFi sync and the Pro cloud functionality for $40, but iTunes lists Wi-Fi Sync as an in-app purchase option for $30. Its all very confusing, but it appears that at a minimum you will be paying $30 to retain this functionality.) Im not impressed. I might be more forgiving if the app had been rock solid the last couple of years, but its been a bit flaky, and my patience is wearing thin. I may update this review in the future if things improve.

The worst costumer attention.

I had Splash ID almost 3 years. Suddenly I downloaded the new version (I had de 6.2 and upgraded for 7.2.2) and all my data was converted into garbage. I contacted Splash ID for support and this is what I got: 1) They take about 3-4 days to email you back. 2) The person that responds the emails doesn’t have a clue about what to say. 3) After you explain the problem in six emails, they just said to me "I am escalating your case to 2nd level of support. Someone will get back to you soon” and then an email from another guy who’s “chief experience Officer ” at Splash ID but is just the same as the other guy. 4) I had 63 records in my computer and now they are lost. I wouldn’t recommend this app. I’m getting my money back.

Having Problems...Again

Previous versions of this (for desktop, iPad and iPhone) have operated without a hitch. When the update to the new desktop version came I thanked my stars I had saved a previous version to a memory stick so I could go back (the new version wouldnt install, even after asking support for help). Now I find I cannot trust the syncing between devices because the note I saved on the desktop disappeared on both iPad and, after a second sync, on my iPhone. Syncing worked perfectly before. Also, the iPad app crashes a lot, and the category field is showing up as a series of dots. Plus the icons are different between devices, which is annoying if you search for a record visually. Please fix this once awesome service before you start asking me to give you more money!

Splash ID - great app

Great app - enforces security and remembers pw for you

Fantastic app

I have over 220 records for passwords, credit cards, web sites etc. let it worry about my electronic life.

Not reliable

Cant launch the app after the last update. Consistently corrupts data. Randomly loses password records. Some records wont sync with my Mac. Cant recommend this app at all.

Great app

Even better on iPad than bbry and win phone

Great App being using it since the early Palms

Love the fact that syncing is so fast. I have 400 entries and synching between my ipad, iphone and my computer is about 10 seconds. Was using version 6.2 on my blackberry. Now with iPhone using version 8. A lot of great changes.

Unbelievable

Even though we bought the app, paid for upgrades, bought the desktop app and paid for upgrades, theyre now asking for $40 to keep the functionality that we used to have? Leeches.

Wifi Sync Stopped Working

I own a paid version of this software (Wi-Fi Sync). After upgrading to the last IOS software I seem to have lost the ability to Sync my iPhone back to the desktop. Cant even do an IP address manual sync. The iPhone app can not find my desktop version. Using your paid Cloud service in not an option for me as I prefer to keep my sensitive data out of the cloud. Hoping you can resolve this quickly or I will have to start looking for an alternative program.

Data corruption is also a problem

The IOS version has quit, and even after reinstalling it wont keep working. I suppose that the data corruption in the catagories list could have something to do with it. How much can you trust software that corrupts data. Im now looking for a pay version of software that I can believe in.

Great App for all devices

Ive been using Splash products since the Palm Pilot days and every version gets better. Its easy to use across all devices. I pay for the cloud service but you dont need that to use the app. I would recommend this app to store your important info and numbers so you can access them from anywhere.

Indispensable

With all the web page sign-ins and today’s daily life account passwords, SplashID Safe really helps my wife and I trundle through. It works very well across multiple platforms and for me, syncing has always worked flawlessly. Highly recommend it over, say, using the same short password for 175 web accounts. When I was first searching for a good tool years ago, SplashID had the best overall product IMO. I haven’t researched lately, but SplashID has given me no reason to even give it a passing thought.

Timeout lock is back!

Back to being the best password app

Fingerprint

The opportunity to use fingerprint scan to open Splash ID is intermittent. Must be some glitch. I hope you fix it soon as it will be a great feature. When entering my password manually, I can only use the bottom section of letters as the upper sets dont work with a letter/number combo. You had this problem in the past, but corrected it-now its back.

Great app. Used for 3 years

Ive been using splashID for 3 years. Amazing product. Really versatile for any kind of record. Sync works perfectly between iPhone, iPad and Mac. One of the most useful apps out there.

Need to update

Since last update both my iphone a food crash on opening. Please fix this issue

great support

I had a problem synching a new item on my iPhone with the cloud and Mac version, and they kept with me until we solved it.

Terrible Support

I have owned Splash Data products for well over 7 years. I have noticed recently that the companys attitude to its customers is one of ambivalence. Today I tried to submit a bug report to say that SplashID had stopped working on 3 different IOS 9 devices. The app launches, then closes 20 seconds later. The first thing to note is that you cant talk to anyone. I couldnt even find a phone number by searching the web. I was actually OK with using the only option available, email, until I submitted the email. When I clicked on the send button, a panel appeared that said"We have not sent your email yet. Try one of these solutions." This is actually a good idea, so I looked them over and checked them out. None of them were related to the problem I was experiencing, so I tried to send the email again. I could not get at the send button because the suggestions screen wouldnt go away. I tried a few things to try to submit the problem report, but I finally had to close the browser window. I have no idea whether the problem report was sent. The second issue occurred with a different Splash Data product called Splash Money. During the transition to IOS 7, Splash Money stopped working with the same symptoms as I am now experiencing with Splash ID. The companys response was to withdraw Splash Money, a paid app, from Apples App Store rather than try to fix it. When I contacted the company, they explained that they were a small company and didnt have the resources to fix everything. While SplashID is a very useful product, the companys support leaves a lot to be desired. If all you want is to store passwords for web sites, then One Password will do the job with good security. I decided not to store my data on Splash Datas server - who wants all their passwords and account numbers on a networked device owned by a company that "cant fix everything".
